The 'new' CU7 ETH detector unit is seen test fitted in its location in the cubicle, and with the wires fitted. It was removed later for safe keeping. 19 October 2008.

The wiring for the two main starting contactors is almost complete. The loose looms to the right are awaiting other wires to be fed through them. 19 October 2008.

The right-hand cab warning light resistor panel on top of the cubicle has been rebuilt using overhauled components from a variety of sources and the wiring completed. A portion of the main field divert resistors is visible behind. 19 October 2008.

During October 2008 the ETH/Auxiliary generator set intended for use in 50030 was moved to Bowers Electrical where a serious start was made on their restoration and overhaul.

Whilst the bodywork was being undertaken on Renown earlier in the year she had been stabled closer to the group's container. However following her unveiling at the diesel gala, the group's focus shifted back to internal work on 50030, as such Renown was repositioned in her more normal location behind Repulse.
