The external condition of both locomotives after ten years' storage was frankly terrible and we agreed with Peak Rail that sorting this out and presenting a better external image would be our first priority.

The cubicle switch door in 50030 is seen partially wired. The controls are: ammeter (top), emergency compressor switch, passenger/goods switch, exhauster cut-out switch (2nd row), control sut-out switch (3rd row), with the fuel priming and local engine start buttons at the bottom. 22 June 2008.

Eventually this door will have to have 59 wires run to it. This picture shows a close up of the largest of the new rotary switches, the Passenger/Goods brake selector switch which is seen during wiring. This switch selects either air or vacuum brakes and passenger or goods load. 2 June 2008.

The four rotary switches have all been purchased brand new from the original supplier. They are: emergency compressor switch, passenger/goods switch, exhauster cut-out switch (2nd row), control cut-out switch (3rd row). At the bottom of the door replacement fuel priming & local engine start buttons have been fitted. 6 January 2008.

The hinges left from the original door (which was missing when we bought 50030) were removed, and the old pins knocked out. The replacement door was then test-fitted (complete with all of the new rotary switches) to check that the new door would re-mount correctly. 6 January 2008.
