There have been a number of 50s that were bought for preservation and have subsequently been sold for scrap. The most recent, and hopefully the last was 50040 Leviathan, which is seen here in June 2007 at its last base of Coventry Railway Centre. The locomotive was scrapped by Simms Metals in 2008.
