A further big step forward in the restoration of 50030 was on Tuesday August 16th 2022. The traction blower motors and vacuum brake exhauster were lifted out of Repulse to allow the areas behind them to be cleaned and repaired if necessary. At a later date we will put back overhauled electrical machines which we acquired separately from the ones already inside 50029 and 50030 when we first purchased the pair. We also took the opportunity during the lift to reinstall an overhauled radiator fan motor into 50030. The removed machines from 50030 were taken for secure off-site storage.

Dave Rolfe, Mark Burrows and myself were on site on Sunday 14th August to prepare for the day of the lift. This involved removing various air tanks and other equipment from the brake frame to allow the passage of the electrical machines through the roof hatch. The photos from the day presented here were taken by RRRG member Jay Hirst and a further photo gallery with detailed coverage of the day will be available to RRRG members in due course.
